Where are the MEN

I had a chance to sit in a mall food court for 30 minutes… I usually sit at the back where people rarely pass by. This time I am stationed near the escalator and near the entrance… so you could imagine the number of people that I saw.

I was with a dear friend who took her lunch there, it was 2:30 pm (the time is valuable) and the court is pretty crowded. We decided to sit there to take advantage of the free Wi-Fi and during our stay we were amazed…

Where are the men? The question pops up after 5 minutes of sitting there… Yes I saw guys but I’m looking for straight men… and for 30 minutes I haven’t seen one… ONE…I’m just asking for one and I saw NONE.

For this experiment time is valuable, I guess all the men are working for their Gals at home… right? Its nearly 2:30 pm and a break is in order for the working men and I have not seen anyone. 30 minutes is a pretty long time I guess? Could you imagine 30 minutes without seeing any real men? Me… I was just amazed.

Ok here are my thoughts… This mall is dominated by single powerful women that maybe real men are scared to step in to this establishment… hmmm pretty much NO!!! Or maybe I was at the wrong part of the mall? Hell no!!! I’m at the food court I’m not inside any gender focused store. Maybe the men are working… (This is my last resort) but how come I see a lot of women walking and they seem like the working women well they look like one.

I did not expect to see a family inside the mall during those hours since it’s a weekday and most kids are at school… and as expected I didn’t see one.

This got me thinking, where the hell are the men nowadays… not that I’m looking I’m just asking? Is there a picket line somewhere that I don’t know about? Or maybe a sale in the aftershave section of the department store? Please tell me because I want to know…

During our stay my friend and I started talking about the odds, now we are talking about the ratio of gay men to men to woman to gay woman… and it’s not looking good. My friend is in training right now and on her class NO MEN!!! The class is dominated by gay men, straight girls and some gay girls. On my previous work the production floor is composed of men, gay men, girls and few gay girls but the ratio is astounding… a team is composed of 15 to 16 individuals and all teams have at least 2 to 3 gay men 7 girls and the rest was real men and some gay girls… It’s true that there are more female than male species but if the male species will be divided into two… where the hell are the real men?

 As I further analyze the situation… guys I see in the mall nowadays are guys wearing tight jeans with big colorful bags not that I’m insinuating but most men I know wouldn’t be caught dead carrying those bags… maybe the jeans but not the bags not to mention their shoes that matches the bag. Ayyy karamba… as I wrote I wonder… Please where are you… and please stand up?

After 30 minutes of wondering… I began to ask myself… is there another generation emerging... the generation’s of liberated men… hmmm maybe I am asking the wrong questions. Are men more liberated than the average women nowadays… or did they in fact, get in touch with the female within.

I am gay… so whatever it is that’s been keeping real men from malls I just wanna know. Let’s just say I’m straight curious about them. (Pun Intended)
