Facebook...
I admit, for two months now Facebook has been a part of my daily routine... to be exact facebook is the only thing in my daily planner
It started 2 years ago... here is my story.
It is the only social networking site available in the office, first the application was just simple sending bags, shoes and taking care of pets... after a year it was blocked and for months I haven't opened it since my friends there was just officemates who were addicted to Friendster and wanted to update the second best thing they could update on.
Then my friends grew from 100+ to 400+ some started to invite me so they could add me as a friend to their applications... my friendster account holds around 400+ friends and 90% of those friends have touched a certain part of my life... but on my Facebook account it goes up and up and up. Then I've learned about Yoville, I usually play that game after work or before work and then I got hooked. Then all familiar applications started to appear Vampire wars,Mafia,Celebrity, farmville,Farmtown and Cafe world... Now around this time I'm doomed.
It got me thinking... facebook gave its user the true meaning of Social networking... we do not only add friends... some of us invites people we barely knew not because we need to but because thats the logic behind social gatherings right? attend one and gain friends... this time its in the gathering is online. thus Social Networking sites was born.
I'm not saying its good or bad... I'm gonna let you decide on that... but for me one thing is very clear, the more I stay away from facebook the more I think about my farms lol. Kidding aside, at this point in time I have 3000+ friends on FB and its still a work on progress... sometimes I comment on their post if I find it amusing or just looks at their progress. I find it a relaxing way to kill boredom... well thats what I said two months ago now I accept its more of an addiction already.
lets face it... FB is here to stay. lets not blame FB for creating another addiction the world needs to worry about... let them worry about famine, disasters and economy... but the users need to be disciplined enough not to let FB get into them.
As I leave please remember... be disciplined people (an advise the author needs to follow) Its a social network so lets all start socializing... at least online.
