Halloween
There are so many reasons why some of us celebrate halloween, but reason number one is the most known... to have fun!!!
In most countries they don't have a Holiday to commemorate the departed and the saints but they have a feast to celebrate the dead. as I continue pondering on what this day means (OCT 31) I came across its history and I am shocked to know that it is somehow connected to the roman catholics but was mostly celebrated by non catholics.
I did not grow up in a convent but my grandparents are active in church. I only know about halloween because my aunt grew up in the US and her birth day is on November 1 so Halloween was her chosen party date. In the Phillipines Halloween is famous amongst Bar goers, people who rather have fun than to sulk around in cemeteries... I was once part of that group -emphasis on the was- yes we had fun and every year we celebrate it with a bang, but now that its not my scene anymore I began to wonder... WHY?
This is not a history lesson so do not expect me to blog about it... I am looking for its essence, the events staying power and its impact. I tired to watch some TV but I was frustrated when I saw mostly halloween specials even on cooking channels and it all started there. This is the first year that I didn't made any effort regarding halloween... No costumes, no candies and no Happy halloween greeting came from me. (well one, a shout out from my FB account) but during the events of the day... I began to think, Why? whats the point? and why should I?
Sounds a little pessimist to me but no... just arrived to the point where a certain person's world changes where things he had done before are now a bit odd even for him.
Ask yourself, Is this for fun or are we commemorating some voodoo rituals we're not supposed to do in the first place. LMAO nahhh nothing to do so I just have to put my mind at work... overall I enjoyed it but now I rather not... maybe next year lol
Author blogging wearing a headband with an angels halo... Better late than never!!! Happy halloween everyone
