Why I love food?
Food is essential, its brings us strength and power to do stuff... but why do I love them... here is why...
lets get one thing straight, I love to eat food, make food, create food, experiment on food cook bake food do the grocery buy food taste food etc etc... I absolutely love it... to answer the question why let me tell you a story...
My Family were never rich, not even well off (if there is such a difference) but we were never poor or have we been poor I don't know. growing up my measurement of being comfortable is by having how much food we have on the table, on the fridge or the cupboards. Growing up we experienced eating bread for lunch the sliced bread from the local bakery just plain bread. and that is the lowest point that we reached. We experienced having fried rice with a few slices of chorizo for dinner just rice then the next day it was lechon. For a Child I was looking for stability I think... I was never involved in the day to day kitchen activities back then but I find it odd when everyday my level of comfort changes.
during our lowest point, I told my self I never wanted that to happen again and then I began to mature... mature enough to know how to cook that simple Adobo mom used to make. then I wanted more... I learned how to cook Sinigang etc etc.
During these years of learning I was not satisfied... when I started working I took the task of doing the grocery I was shocked... Food was expensive, before I get irritated if our Queensland butter is gone if there's no mustard on my ketchup, if there's no mayo for my veggies or if the Maling is not cooked. haha
After that I found a greater respect for Food, people cant survive without it, if we splurge we will be left with nothing at the end... then I began to experiment... what will happen if I change this to this... do that instead of this and it got me hooked. the more dishes I prepare, the more style of cooking I learned it was never ending.
Who would have thought that there are 100 ways to cook adobo, several versions of Sinigang, a lot of different kinds of Pasta from the Spaghetti we used to love... endless possibilities are there.
Who would have thought that the only secret in cooking Bulalo is the time it spent on boiling water... the Kare Kare different style of cooking same end result.
Food deserves to have a slow clap... Not everyone is privileged to have abundance of it but we all cope up.
Right now I can say that I am not yet an expert but I know a couple of tricks already I've done my fair share of experimenting and yes it was successful.
So cheers to food... I just ate tocilog and I still have a burger at my side when I wrote this haha. talk about inspiration.
till next time
