My Grandma

My Grandma is a big part of my childhood, t'was never easy. They say that parents are the disciplinarian and the grandparents are the spoilers in my case it was the other way around haha.

I never called my Lola as "Lola" she wanted "Grandma" well I find it very pasosyal  now I know why all her apo's na naabutan nya are the same... including me hahaha. My Grandpa used to work as a city treasurer before I guess that's why my lola is like that...

I'm going to remember my Lola the best way possible... not by kind words but with the truth.

She is loving, shes the kind of lola who dreams of fetching her apo's at school all of her apo's and we are plenty ha.Shes the kind of lola who makes Sunday lunch so worth it.

She is strict, our excuses doesn't work on her.

She's maarte, She bought shoes that matches her car's plate number. she doesn't buy underwear she had them made by her long time sastre "mamerto". I still remember coz mamerto made the dress she wore in her coffin. I was with her when she had it made. for no apparent reason she said she wanted something nice to wear probably for our graduation day or some important event she asked her sastre to make 5 of her underwear and 2 semi formal dresses. I remembered her saying "I want a Chinese collared electric pleated dress" and viola that's what she wore on her death. di ba so arte

She is consistent, She only wears 2 perfumes "Red door" for special occasions and "Perry Ellis" for the normal days. She wakes up at 4 am everyday prays the rosary and waits for her apo's to go to school and that's everyday before she starts battling cancer.

She is Kuripot, so kuripot that she keeps her money inside small mercury drug plastic bags. she withdraw money everyday but only enough so she wouldn't overspend. and she always sticks to a certain budget ALWAYS.

She is helpful, there was a part in my childhood that she help us through school financially and she lets us stay in her apartment for free hehe.

Neighbors calls her Mommy Virgie but for her Apo its Grandma and some days when I'm at my most kaartehan I call her "grand-mama" like Anastasia hahaha.

Next week its her Birthday, back then the 28th of August is a day for food and play .. the day where all her Apo's will be visiting and playing around the house.

But today since she's not with us anymore all I can do is remember the good time we all spend with her
