Equal rights

Well, assuming that I am a girl... knowing the history of suppressed rights that we had before...knowing that today those limited rights are long forgotten I wouldn't use my being a girl as a way to treat me like I cant do anything.

There was this one time during my long trips commuting to work... a loud girl keep saying that shes a girl and one of the men seated should give his seat to her. I was standing behind that woman and I couldn't help but wonder... are we (still assuming that I am one) still allowed to use the "girl" card when our ancestors fought their hardest to instill to the minds of the lowly men before that we can also do what they can and we can sometimes do it better... (still assuming that I am one) it aggravates me to think that this girl think so highly of her... yes "we" may be at some point be at our lowest (once a month for some) and may be a bit unstable for a few days due to the unstoppable mood swings and our being fickle minded by nature... but majority of the remaining days we have proven that we are more than capable in doing the so called "man's job".

Since I'm already assuming, during her 5 mins of banter... I continue to think... maybe its her time of the month or maybe she had a really bad day... but something tick me off... she said "Dapat ang mga babae lang ang pinapaupo" - "girls are the only ones allowed to sit" - and then it hit me... this girl is living in a fantasy world that men and women doesn't have equal rights.

Most of my biggest influence are women who made a mark in life... my biggest respect goes to them and listening to this girl was so disrespectful to the women that I looked up to.

Now I'm going to stop assuming... I'm not a woman and I think I'm androgynous by nature... but a statement like that will surely get you nowhere... you could have politely ask if anyone can give you a seat since your tired or whatever reason you can provide and I could have ask you politely that since you insist to be seated because your a woman... I also insist that you forfeit your rights to vote for the upcoming elections or I may have insisted that since you clearly state that you are a woman I may politely ask you to marry a man who could feed you so you could stop working and just be a stay at home wife. Harsh, a bit maybe- but when I think of the hard work the women around the world that will be degraded from a comment like that... its just fitting.

Men get tired too you know... now if your pregnant that's a different story... I may have asked you to  step out of the train and go to your designated passenger rail... that's one of our privileged (back to assuming) of being a woman... the miracle of giving birth to life... now that is one thing not a single man can do...

I'll see yeah hold tight!!!
