Reflection...
Holy week... I grew up in a family where we dont eat pork... talk outloud... we just watched cinakulo's and attend long proccesions, we dont even go out during this week. So imagine what I feel when century tuna was invented... internet is booming and our vhs player was a hit during this time.
Now that I am of age, I often wonder why we do this things. I guess we were westernized already and gone are the days where we spend thursday to saturday at home praying rosaries and listening to the pabasa and just sit still reflecting on the things we did and commemorate Jesus sacrifice for us.
Well, im still a Catholic at heart... all those years spent in catholic schools... living with religious grandparents... i still miss the good old days.
Although we never tried going out on a vacation during holyweek -as a family- I see now the logic behind it... its the only time of the year where parents dont have work and kids are done with school... for now it still applies for some since majority of our working population now works for bpo's and other foreign owned companies that requires work during our holidays.
For me... Maybe im an old soul... I dunno but i rather spend time at home doing nothing... praying and using this time to reflect on the things thats bothering me... planning... and reenergizing for another hectic year ahead of me.
My only message for you on the holiest of all our weeks...
During this week... no matter what you do or what you get accustomed to during this week I fully respect that... but please take time to relect. You dont need to watch "Jesus Christ Superstar" or inflict wounds to yourself... just think about what or who made you who you are today and ask yourself... if this is where you wanted to be? Start from there and experience the wonder of self reflection and lets start next week with an open mind and a stronger heart.
Till next time...
