Dekada 2018
A decade is a decade, some couples even married couples doesn’t last that long, so we celebrated.
We were just doing one of our regular routines when we decided why not eat out. We were at glorieta that day so we need to pick from one of their resto to save up on parking lol.
We loved buffets, but opted not to for this year. We wanted somewhere with a little bit of privacy and its 2pm already so lunch break is over but we were inside a mall where restaurants doesn’t really follow the lunch break off peak rule.
Then we thought of this quaint place called Dekada, so apt right.
Its near the bridge way of glorieta and landmark in makati. Its a small place and we always pass by there and they have this privacy vibe vs the resto in front of them which is luk yuen. So off we go.
We were already sitted and looking at the menu, uts a bit pricy but hey were celebrating hihi we spent a little over a thousand for that meal which is a bit pricy for two and its just lunch and not dinner ek ek date.
Their menu is filipino food named after heroes or well know public figures. Like abobo ala rizal something i cant remember the food names but to simply put it its just adobo.
We decided to order 1 each of our liking - para daw fair kasi its our anniversary - Cucci ordered the bagnet kare kare and i ordered tokwat baboy but we needed gulay to balance everything so we added gising gising. Then we ordered palitaw for deserts - so our relationship will continue to rise or lumitaw against all the negativity of the world ek ek - and a few cups of rice for each of us coz the flavored fried rice didn’t appeal that much.
Well since i plan to turn this little story telling into a review - why not - here we go.
Bagnet karekare
The bagnet was tender and crispy and the sauce is perfect with the bagoong included but without its a bit dull. Its a karekare alright but i still prefer the home cooked one. Theres another karekare dish in their menu the traditional one maybe thats way better or can compete with our lola’s karekare but we didnt ordered it so i guess it is still worth a try. It looks good on pictures. Back to the bagnet karekare... over all we like it 4 out of 5 stars.
Tokwat baboy
Nothing really special but the pork is crispy and evenly slices. Tokwat baboy is one of our staple food at home. We can eat it any time of the day and its easy to make. But with decadas version you will surely notice that they try to innovate it and it worked. Same taste with a fee more sosyal spices here and there overall its a 3 out of 5 stars
Gising gising
Well this one i was really shocked. I tasted a lot of gising gising before and this one i like. I never cook gising gising at home, i know how to but i just don’t cook it at home. Its not that spicy its just right you can still taste the sweet gata and a hint of sili at the end. The veggies are crunchy and not over cooked. And the servings its actually good for three. Its a 5 out of 5 stars
Palitaw
The palitaw is perfect. Its not hard and still soft when you take a bite. It really melts in your mouth. The cooked coco sugar and the grated coconut is perfect. Well its a hundred pesos worth of palitaw what do i expect... its a 5 out of 5 stars
There are a lot of possible worthy choices, if we were in a group i will try the following:
The sinigang looks promising on pics and based on our order they actually look the same as their picture counterparts
The inihaw na baboy looks delicious.
Ill might try the traditional karekare if we are back.
Another would be the lumpia ubod it was actually recomended by the server.
Their variations of pancits is also worth a try basing it on the pictures.
So there. I have to admit we picked this place cause we always see that its not full so we really didn’t expect the food would be that good
Our overall experience:
Price - 3 out of 4
Ambiance - 5 out of 5
Taste - 4 out of 5
Service - 4 out of 5 again there isn’t that much customer when we were there so as expected their focused on us lol. We even asked the cashier to take a picture of us.
Overall - 4 out of 5
Lower down the prices and ill go there and order take outs when I’m at work.
