Mother's Garden
for our 7th... I was actually planning something different.
but I was sold to the idea of trying "Mother's Garden" in pasay.
Mother's Garden is not your typical restaurant well... Its not a restaurant at all. To explain it as simple as possible its just a house that serves a set meal and by reservations only.
whats special about it... well it's a House built by Pablo Antonio he was a Filipino architect. A pioneer of modern Philippine architecture, he was recognized in some quarters as the foremost Filipino modernist architect of his time.He was conferred the rank and title of National Artist of the Philippines by President Ferdinand Marcos in 1976. and he called this House "the garden House".
there were blogs all over the net dated back 2008 with pictures of the house and the food and all I can say is that the house never changed its timeless style never gets outdated. the food some say its delish and some say its so so...
here are some of the blogs/news I saw:
http://www.ourawesomeplanet.com/awesome/2008/04/mymothersgarden.html
http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/lifestyle/02/13/14/14-romantic-restaurants-manila
http://www.ivanhenares.com/2008/02/garden-room-is-pasays-best-kept-secret.html
Well... my verdict... the food is actually above normal, you will notice the clever play of spices. the Bottomless Ginger Juice is perfect although I heard they serve different juices every now and then when we were there they served cold Ginger / orange Juice.
When we made the reservations we were given the normal set menu I read on the other blogs we choose the Mustard Chicken, Angel Hair and Fettuccine pasta in chorizo sauce and Olive sauce, Buttered Shrimps, brown rice with mangoes and plain rice. to start off the meal we were served with fresh garden salad in pesto Sauce and to end it... Assorted pastries.
the shrimp
The Mustard Chicken
The Rice
Assorted Pastries
Salad
When you reserved a table chances are you will dine alone in the big Garden house which is actually good. the place is peaceful and you can have a very quiet lunch or dinner. for every reservations there will be a server assigned to you so all you need to do is just wait for the food to be served.
Overall experience was a 4 out of a 5... its nice to eat restaurant quality food in a comfort and a setting of a home.
